Student Visa Checklist

In order to apply for a Student Visa, you need to submit the following documents:

  • Two completed and signed application forms . Please ensure that a high quality printout of the barcode is submitted with the application.

  • 3 recent biometric passport photos (not older than six months), 2 glued to the application forms and 1 attached with a paper clip

  • Passport, issued within the last 10 years and valid for at least one more year from the intended date of entry into Germany, with at least 2 empty pages + 2 photocopies of the data page

  •  Maltese residence card, valid for at least three months + 2 photocopies

  • Proof of admittance to the study course, including information about the teaching language + 2 photocopies
    Please check if your institute is listed in the Hochschulkompass datebase. If not, please contact us beforehand.

  • If German is the teaching language, proof of the required language skills (as a rule at least B2) + 2 photocopies

  • Where available: Certificates of other academic qualifications + 2 photocopies

  • To stay in Germany the applicant must have at least 861 €/month at their disposal. Proof in the form of a blocked account  for at least 1 year (10,332 € ) need to be submitted with the application. For more information, please follow this link.

  • Curriculum vitae + 1 photocopy

  • Motivation letter + 1 photocopy

  • Travel health insurance policy for 14 days from the intended date of entry into Germany (the policy can be presented later – latest on the day the visa is issued)

    Visa fee: EUR 75.00

Please note:

Certificates, diplomas, etc. must be presented in the original with apostille/legalisation. Your original documents will be returned to you once your application has been processed.

The visa must, where applicable, be approved by the competent foreign authority. The visa can only be issued when these approvals have been received.
