In order to apply for a Student Visa, you need to submit the following documents:
Two completed and signed application forms . Please ensure that a high quality printout of the barcode is submitted with the application.
3 recent biometric passport photos (not older than six months), 2 glued to the application forms and 1 attached with a paper clip
Passport, issued within the last 10 years and valid for at least one more year from the intended date of entry into Germany, with at least 2 empty pages + 2 photocopies of the data page
Valid Maltese residence permit + 2 photocopies
Proof of admittance to the study course including information about the teaching language + 2 photocopies. - Please check if the teaching institute is listed in the Higher Education Compass (Hochschulkompass) datebase. If not, please contact us beforehand.
If German is the teaching language: proof of the required language skills (as a rule at least B2) + 2 photocopies
Where available: Certificates of other academic qualifications + 2 photocopies
To stay in Germany the applicant must have at least 934,- EUR/month at his/her disposal. Proof in form of a blocked bank account (Speerkonto) for at least 1 year (11.208,- EUR) needs to be submitted with the application. Please visit the website of the Federal Foreign Office for more Information.

Travel health insurance policy for 14 days from the intended date of entry into Germany (the policy can be presented later – latest on the day the visa is issued)
Visa fee is 75,- EUR to be paid either in cash or by credit card (only Visa or Master Card).
Certificates, diplomas, etc. must be presented in the original with apostille/legalisation. Your original documents will be returned to you once your application has been processed.
The visa must, where applicable, be approved by the competent Immigration Office (Ausländerbehörde). The visa can only be issued when the approval has been received.
